FEMA Urges Homeowners with Uncovered Losses to Apply for Assistance

For homeowners with uncovered losses in Hurricane Florence, FEMA is reviving a financial assistance program that came to the aid of many North Carolinians after Hurricanes Fran and Floyd. The Individuals and Households Program (IHP) is designed to ease the burden on homeowners in disaster-affected areas that either had no insurance, or the insurance they did have was not sufficient to cover losses.

Homeowners with flood damage who did not have flood insurance, in particular, are being urged to apply quickly. IHP claims will be processed in the order they were received by FEMA, so it’s a good idea to fill out the application and get it in as soon as possible. The program is open to anyone in disaster-affected areas with uncovered losses, regardless of income level.
