Risk Engineering Consulting

For clients with unique or specific risk management needs, Sentinel will deploy elite risk management professionals to create a tailored service plan for your operations.

Our team partners with you to develop and deliver an organizational risk management vision that aligns your tolerance for risk with the right mitigation strategies. With a comprehensive and objective view, we help you implement a broad array of proactive solutions across your risk portfolio to enhance decision making, reduce uncertainty and increase opportunity.

Your organization is bound to face risks. Successful organizations are decisive about which risks to avoid, control, transfer, or accept. With Sentinel, allow your company to effectively mitigate risk and protect both your employees and the bottom line.

Our areas of focus include:

Enterprise Risk Management

The insurance industry relies on loss control consultants to pinpoint deficiencies that could impact a business’ bottom line. At Sentinel, we take a broader, more holistic approach. Our Risk Engineering team utilizes the power of data to focus on both emerging loss trends compounded with a review of operational exposures to positively affect change.

Our team works proactively, marrying the investigative side of assessing risk with finding workable solutions to manage that risk. As an integral part of the Sentinel Risk Performance Group, our Risk Engineers help remove risk management hurdles every day, creating a safe and compliant working environment for your employees.

The team assures that OSHA compliance standards are met for businesses with a diverse set of operational risk portfolios. Critical workplace safety trainings are held throughout the year, and the team provides a myriad of resources to help companies navigate state and federal safety standards and regulations. For clients with more sophisticated risk management needs, Sentinel is the only firm in the Carolinas with the depth of field to provide elite risk management professionals to work onsite on a consultative basis.

Fleet Safety & Telematics

Driving-related accidents represent the highest statistical fatality rate for employers. According to OSHA, every 12 minutes someone dies in a motor vehicle crash, every 10 seconds an injury occurs, and every 5 seconds a crash occurs, many of which occur during the workday and involve employees. As our vehicles become more and more “connected”, so do the opportunities for driver distractions. Whether you manage a fleet of passenger vehicles or oversee a large trucking operation, implementing a driver safety program in the workplace can generate awareness that is aimed at improving driving behaviors. Sentinel has a vast amount of experience to tap into when it comes to fleet safety as well as a deep bench of vendor partners that bring fleet solutions that can be customized to fit your operational needs.

Education & Training

Every workplace is different, which means training and education requirements will vary from company to company. The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) of 1970 reads: “To assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women; by authorizing enforcement of the standards developed under the Act; by assisting and encouraging the States in their efforts to assure safe and healthful working conditions; by providing for research, information, education, and training in the field of occupational safety and health.”

Sentinel’s experience with a broad base of clients allows us to provide a risk-based lens for safety and training programs that are best suited for your operations.  We use various methods from in-person to virtual based training to help supplement the employer’s requirements for OSHA training.

Client Advocacy & Carrier Oversight

A big part of our job is to act as a liaison between your company and the insurance carrier. In conjunction with our claim experts, we help paint the risk management picture of your operations to our carrier partners. This includes harnessing resources that are available to us through our insurance carriers to help our clients resolve outstanding recommendations that have been issued. We find that being proactive not only helps mitigate future claims potential but also leaves us in good standing with our insurance carriers through effective collaboration.

Risk Management Administration

Sentinel will keep track of key deliverables and claims activities, ensure policies are delivered accurately and on time and reflect changes as needed throughout the policy term, facilitate premium payments, track certificates issued and received, and understand changes to products/services offered.

Our will break down your organization’s Total Cost of Risk, which includes insurance premiums and expenses, retained losses, and loss control efforts. You will understand how your cost compares with your peers, and our team will provide evidence of ROI for risk management initiatives. Reporting tools, including dashboard reports, will communicate results and keep you exceptionally informed.
