Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October marks Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This global initiative aims to raise awareness about online safety while empowering both individuals and businesses to safeguard their data against cybercrime.

The Importance of Cyber Liability Insurance

In today’s world, Information Technology (IT) is an essential tool for businesses of all sizes. IT is used in several ways, such as communicating through email, providing information or services via a website, storing, and utilizing customer data, and more. Cyber Liability risks are rapidly evolving due to technological advancements and new regulations. Businesses can be held liable for compromised data, and insurance experts consider the risk of Cyber Liability losses to exceed those of fraud or theft.

Cyber Claims Response

In the event of a Ransomware attack or a Social Engineering scheme, swift action is crucial when a Threat Actor targets you. Our experienced team recognizes the urgency of the situation and is equipped to guide you through the necessary steps to mitigate the incident and help you resume your business operations.

When faced with a cyberattack, we promptly connect you with the right resources and coordinate with Breach Counsel, Forensic Analysts, and other stop-gap mechanisms to facilitate a quick recovery. Our internal Cyber Team utilizes their extensive industry knowledge across various domains—Coverage, Technology, and Financial—to minimize further losses and initiate the recovery of affected systems, data, and deliverables. We remain by your side throughout the entire claims process, ensuring a smooth navigation of the challenges ahead.

Steps to take if you think you may be a victim of a cyberattack:

  1. Call us. Threat Actors may have an active line of sight straight to your email and online systems. We want to take valuable information out of their hands, and as such we will communicate through alternate channels while there may be access.
  2. Contain the breach. We want to ensure that your internal IT team is acting to disconnect any remote access while maintaining firewall security.
  3. If you have had a financial transaction occur, immediately notify your financial institution, as they may be able to request a recall of funds.
  4. Report the attack as soon as possible to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). This government resource will assist with involving federal, state or local law enforcement. More info can be found on IC3 at www.ic3.gov.
